Fabulous Friday

So, in an effort to get back on track with my blog, I have decided to go through my quilting archives and find some of my older quilts to show you and to talk about. Let's begin...
This is a quilt I made back in 2006, according to the date stamp on the picture. Sounds about right. I wanted to make a quilt for a friend in the colors of the Mediterranean. Golden sun, vivid blues for sky and sea, green for the growing things...
I love the vivid colors in this quilt. I am a bit surprised that I made this. I knew nothing of "modern" quilting at the time I did this, and I honestly can't tell you where the design concept came from.
I still have some scraps of some of these fabrics, and I made another quilt in similar colors, for myself. I am sad to say that I haven't seen this quilt, or my friend since I gifted this quilt. We are no longer in tough, but I hope that it is still used and loved for its beauty.
Some of the sections appear to be quilted with different patterns. They are hard to see in these pictures.
The back is all blue, like the sky. It appears to be one of the Moda Marbles fabrics. I loved those back then, still do. They add a depth and texture to any piece. So, there you have it. Have a lovely Friday.

Such a cheery and beautiful quilt! I'm sure that even though you don't see your friend, she must think of you every time she looks at it.
