Sunday Stash #35

Not much fabric procurement going on here. I am trying to finish up a bunch of projects and to not start too many more. But, you know how it is when you are sitting at the computer and you are just looking around. So I decided to Google Sunkissed by Sweetwater. My all time favorite fabric line for oh, so many reasons. And I found some!!! On etsy for a crazy low low price. So I had to buy it.

 I absolutely love these dots! The colors are so pretty and I know the lighting doesn't do them justice. If you had or have some of this fabric, you will know what I mean.

 The three top prints are all 1/2 yard cuts and the bottom dot print is a full yard, plus there is another 12 inch cut that is separate. All this goodness for...drumroll please...$12.99!!! Truly my lucky day!!

And, the seller included this panel for making a bag. It is Debbie Mumm for JoAnn Fabrics. I am going to stitch this baby up for spring farmers market shopping!!

Sunday Stash #32

Almost Christmas and the end of the year is near too. Here is what I got this week:

 First, I got this lovely Anna Maria Horner Pretty Potent Echinacea flannel. It is so soft and the colors are so vibrant it fairly glows. I bought 2 yards to use a a backing of a small, light weight blanket for myself. Can't wait to see this one done.

 This pretty pink beauty is Kumari Garden Marala Pink. So pretty and soft. I did tell you pink was my color this year, right?

 And a regular quilting cotton of the Anna Maria Horner Pretty Potent Echinacea print. I love this one in all the colorways. I just need to figure out how to use it.

 And look at this! I was delighted to get this. I got an extra 4-5 inches of fabric! I bought this lot from Fabric.com. I took this as being my reward for having to wait a week and a half for my fabric. It usually doesn't take quite that long.

And, apparently, I forgot that I just ordered some of this, so now I have 2 half yard cuts of this Amy Butler. You ever do that? Linking up to Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash.

Sunday Stash #29

I just had to look and see what number this post would be. I haven't posted a stash post in all of October. Not because there was nothing to post, but because I was feeling lazy. I even had pictures on the computer of some things I bought. So I am back now. First of all, I bought a whole bolt of Kona white. No picture of that, but great thanks to Julie at Intrepid Thread. She got it to me so quickly. This is the first time I have bought a whole bolt of anything and I am loving it!
Next, these:

 Trying to control my spending, so I bought just one yard of my favorite in each collection. This is Anna Maria Horner's Pretty Potent.

 I love these bees in this colorway from Tula Pink's new line. I have already started fussy cutting some for a project.

And this is my favorite from Jeni Baker's new line, Geometric Bliss. I just love the uneven stripes and the colors. Linking up with Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash.

Sunday Stash #25-Rush Hour

So, I signed up for one of Madame Samm's blog hops that is coming in late September. The theme is Rush Hour and it is based on this fabric by Studio e. This is Rush Hour. I chose half yard cuts of these six prints, although there are more in the line. It is rainy and cloudy here this weekend, so not very good lighting.

 Love the coffee cups and the numbers/letters. I do have an idea for this hop, and I am trying to make it work. Good thing I have time, because looks like I may need it.

 I had to Google Rush Hour fabric and Studio e to find this as it is just now showing up in shops. I found mine at Erica's Craft and Sewing Center on line, but she has a brick and mortar store in South Bend Indiana. So glad I found her. She shipped it really fast too.

Sunday Stash #23

My stash addition this week was through a winning draw. I so love getting emails that say "You're the winner." I receive a newsletter from Winter Creek Cloth, an on line fabric company with lots of beautiful fabric. They do a drawing of those who receive their newsletter each month and this month it was me!
This is what I won: an 8 fat quarter set of Jungle Avenue!

 It's no secret I love Art Gallery fabrics. They have the softest hand of any "regular" quilting fabric. Only Voile and Lawn are softer, but they are much thinner.

 Look at the cool prints here. The two black and whit prints are awesome and this picture doesn't really do justice to the brightness of the pinks. My hubby likes the dots and they way they are not perfectly white. Makes them not so stark.

Hard to pick a favorite of all these, but the flowers on the top right might just be it. Unless it's the elephants and the buildings on the bottom left. Sunday Stash # 17

Sew, here we are. Sunday again. I have been seeing and drooling over Jeni Baker's new line, Dreamin' Vintage. The colors so soft and the patterns truly remind me of vintage sheets from the 60's or there about.

 I bought half yard cuts from one of my favorite shops, Hawthorne Threads. I wanted to choose only the prints I really loved and thought I would use. These first three are from the cool colorway. It was hard to narrow it down to these, but I am trying not to go fabric crazy again.

 These are the three I chose from the warm colorway. They are even better in person. Now that I see them on the computer, I am noticing a bit of shadowing. I am not the best photographer. The softness of Art Gallery Fabrics is unbelievable. I think I know exactly what I want to make with these.

 This is a half yard of Crosshatch Sketch in coral, by Timeless Treasures. I love the Sketch fabrics. They are the perfect addition to a stash, no matter the color you choose. This coral is so very pretty.

 And look, a happy coincidence, it goes very nicely with the Dreamin' Vintage fabrics too.

Sunday Stash #13

Oh, lucky 13! Saw these little lovelies in a weekly newsletter from Hawthorne Threads. They are one of my favorite go to on line shops. The fabric gets here so fast, which if you have no patience, like me, is a great thing. They also have a feature to let you order prints quickly from a single line. I love that! Anyway, here is what I bought:

 Bloom, by Masha Dyans for Clothworks. I am in full bring on the spring mode right now. This beauty is so very soft too. I am beginning to plan a quilt I am calling Riot of the Flowers in my head. Spring demands it!

 I also bought a half yard of these two supporting players. I love stripes, almost as much as dots, for binding. They are from the same line and there are more colors available too.

So, yay for spring and flashy flowers! I also caved put up no resistance to preordering the Heather Ross re-release of Far Far Away when it was offered this week. EEEEEEEEEE!!!! Excited for that one!!! Linking up with the lovely Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash. Have a great day everyone!

Sunday Stash

I have decided to join up with Sunday Stash. My friend, Molli Sparkles is now hosting and I love that guy. He is so funny and has a great blog that I love to read. So here we go for my first time ever.

 I am on a stash fast for this year, but I bought all these in December so I'm still good. I loved the new colors of Art Gallery's Squared Elements so I added these to the stash. Look at that orange and navy!

 Don't they all look great together? I want to find a way to showcase all of the squared elements in one quilt.

 Found these cuties at a sale at Intrepid Thread. (sale in December? crazy!) I love the little hedgehogs from Bluebird Park. The yellow print is an older one from the Salt Air line. I have always wanted some. The stripes are Barcelona Stripes and the Rain is Sunnyside by Kate Spain.

 This is Sasparilla. I also bought these on sale. They are going to be a big boy quilt for my youngest grandson. He is not quite there yet, but it will take a while until I am done, since I haven't even begun yet.

And lastly, a fat quarter bundle of Dimple Dots I got from Craftsy, also on sale. Great to go along with many others. They have such subtle texture. Hope you have a great Sunday. I am off to work now.

So Apparently You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

So I needed a 12.5 inch square ruler to square up my MSBHQAL blocks, but didn't have one. I thought that, like always, I would make do and try to square up using what I had. I even asked Molli how to do it, if it was possible, without the square ruler. He was so sweet and sent me a tutorial that he worked out. But then I started to worry about it. A lot. So I caved. I checked around and priced them in lots of different places. And I ended up buying one at my LQS.  And this is what I learned:

 This is one of my "squares" before trimming. I tried to line it up within the 13 inch lines. It was very wonky. I had thought it looked square, but it was an illusion.

 See how it goes off the edge here?

 ...and not very straight here either.

 Then, I apply the 12.5 inch square ruler. One of the things it does is to flatten out the block so you can see it in its true form.

 Look at all that wonky overhang! It's certainly not even on any side.

 This side looks kinda even doesn't it? But not really so. Check out the next picture.

 I hope you can see how much skinnier the bottom of this string is than the top. Many of my trimmings ended up that way.

 And here it is, all crisp and trimmed up.  All 30 of them are now done. They look awesome, even if I do say so myself. I guess I should have gotten the ruler long ago. I have struggled for so long with this issue. Some things are definitely worth having. I know I will get lots of use out of this.

 Here are the first three sewn together. I am loving the way they look!!

 Here is the layout for the whole thing. Each corner has a completely green block in it. This is going to be a great quilt.

Here is inspector O'Malley, making sure everything is okay. He approves. He will be happier when it is quilted and he can curl up on it.

Surprise! I'm Starting a New Project!

You know that moment when you see something new and you think "I wonder if I can fit this in to my to do list?" And then you know you can't really, but you do it anyway because it's something you want to do really, really bad! Yup...that's what I did. I joined the Molli Sparkles Broken Herringbone Quilt Along. What we affectionately refer to as MSBHQAL.

Here is where I began:

I had this lovely half yard bundle of Annalee by Jane Dixon for Andover Fabrics. The grey is Kona, I think medium grey. But then I decided I wanted to make enough blocks for my bed sized quilt. That's 30 blocks and while my math isn't great, I don't think this is enough.  So back to my stash for more, but keeping these six.

Now I have 18 fabrics. The light isn't great because it's cloudy and going to rain today, but trust me, they are lovely together.  And now, may I present, my first block:

I am apparently going to get my workout by running back and forth to the computer and then the sewing room until I get this one down. I love it though, and can't wait to make more. Today is the first day, so there's still time to join up. There is a flickr group too. C'mon, you know you want to.
