Now, this may not be what you think. I want to talk about pillows, but not the pillows that we all make as quilters and sewers. I want to talk about bed pillows. I know they tell you to change out your pillows periodically. I think the recommendation I read somewhere is once a year. I know I don't do that. Do you? We have 8 pillows that live on our bed. Yes, 8.
We each have 4, and mostly they are there when we are reading in bed before we retire for the night. When I buy pillows, I have bought them at Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond. But I don't know what I am doing. I try to get a fairly firm pillow, since I know that after awhile it will become less so. But how to choose? The last firm pillows I bout were definitely not that firm after just a short while. They don't seem to hold up very well.
Then, there is the question of polyester filling, foam rubber, down (most expensive) and on and on. So I am asking you...what do you do? I really want to know. Is there a good way to decide? Where do you buy them? Let's have some pillow talk, shall we?

I don't change mine once a year, but I have heard we should. I like my pillows firm (all four of them), polyester filled and buy them at the same places you do. I've bought expensive ones that don't seem to last any better than the cheap ones.
8 pillows...ok, when it comes to pillows I have a tidbit to share...as I have a duvet business..soooo here is the scoop, it is good to have a down pillow or two...why because they breath, they need to be aired out a couple times of year and you can have them for a long time ( in fact decades)...all other pillows, fibre fill, foams..you should only keep them for 1 year...any longer than that and they get heavy, contain skin cells, mold, mildew, fungus, and dust mites, which make up more than half of an older pillow's weight.....If you have allergies at night...your culprit is likely your pillow....
We were in a class years ago whereby they had this amazing microscope...we saw what was in a pillow of 2 years...that was enough for me....I immediately made some goose down 100% bleached and processed down, I never had a sniffle again...we only have 4 pillows 2 for decor....
I'm picky about mine! Have to he soft and squishy or I get a stiff neck and a head ache!! I wash mine once a month and I bleach them! I keep mine fir years because I think EVERY time I buy a new one it is just not right!!! I know they say alergies and such, but I don't have that problem! I think if it works for you... keep doing it! They also say you are supposed yo vacuum your mattress and I have never in my life done that! Oops!!
