Jiggedy Jig

Remember that old nursery rhyme? To market, to market to buy a fat pig. Home again home again jiggedy jig. That's what I named this quilt.

 If you will remember, these were left from the panels that I used of Farm Fresh. I made a quilt and a table runner using the chickens and the roosters. This sweet quilt is for my son-in-law's nephew who is two. I hope he likes cows and pigs.

 And the bright rainbow backing is a couple of pieces I have had in my stash for years now. I know small children like bright pretty colors.

So this will go out in the mail soon, hopefully this week some time and now that this is done, I finally finished quilting the 100 blocks 100 days quilt and put the binding on it yesterday. I began stitching the binding down last night. A couple move evenings should see it finished and then into the washer and dryer for its crinkle treatment. I should have it ready to show you by Friday.

Today we are going to the Padres baseball game, so no sewing will happen. I am still working on my Hands 2 Help quilts and they are moving right along. I would think in two more weeks, they will both be done.

And Meanwhile, InOther News...

So I thought I should maybe show you some of the other stuff I have been making lately. I sew almost every single day.

 I am crocheting the Woodland blanket from Attic 24 for my middle daughter. This is usually my evening hand work project.

 I have pin basted the cows and pigs quilt for a sweet little boy I know. These were left from the fabric panel from Farm Fresh. I used the chickens and roosters elsewhere.

 And a nice bright rainbow on the back, using up these fabrics I have had forever.

 The first of my Hands 2 Help quilts. I have enough of these 16 patch blocks to make two baby quilts for Jack's Basket. That is the charity I have chosen. So happy to find a good use for these blocks.

 Still working on the 100 Blocks 100 Days quilting. I had started it two weeks ago, but had to put it aside to finish Light in the Window.

And here are some pin cushions for my craft fair. I have a bunch of other items as well. Several types of zip pouches and such. That is coming up in early May.

Busy Busy Busy

I have so much stuff going on. I finally finished doing my jury service and am back to sewing. I have a quilt pin basted, a quilt ready to be pin basted, back is made and just finished another quilt top. I made a table runner for a friend and am working on small pouches and bags for a craft fair I am doing in May.  And I just signed up for Hands 2 Help at Confessions of a Fabric Addict. Some pictures?

This is the front, made with more of the chickens from Farm Fresh fabric panel. The recipient collects small ceramic chickens.

 And last weekend, my iron died and so I went out and bought this one. It got some of the best reviews, but it is hard getting used to a new iron.

 I finished crocheting my Sweet Pea blanket with Lucy from Attic 24. I am loving the colors.

And because I have found that I must always have a hand project, I began another crochet blanket for my middle daughter.
So that's what's keeping me busy. I hope you are all well and surviving the last of the winter. We are expecting warmer sunny days here by the end of the week. Woo Hoo!!!

A February Finish

So I saw a panel of Farm Fresh by Gingiber for Moda somewhere. I knew I had to get it. My oldest daughter loves chickens and I knew I could think of something to make her with the panel. And, since I was ordering the panel, I ordered some of the accompanying prints to match with it. I pulled a couple of fabrics from my stash and the result was this:

I made it with the idea that she could hang it on an open wall space in her kitchen. I thought it would really jazz up the space a bit.

 After I pieced it, I quilted it with red thread in a criss cross pattern across all the squares. I knew I wanted to do something different on the roosters and chickens, but what?

 My husband suggested chicken wire, to keep the birds in (ha) but how to do it? I ended up drawing the design on a piece of Sulky iron on stabilizer, ironing it on top of the birds and quilting with short stitches. Then I carefully removed all of the stabilizer just as you would for machine paper piecing. It worked like a dream, so I did them all that way.

 I loved the red gingham so I used it for the border. I don't very often put borders on my quilts anymore.

And for the back a found a piece of Bonnie and Camille's Vintage Picnic red bias gingham. I didn't have quite enough, so I just added some red and whit fabric I found in my stash.

 Add a label and I was done. I am so very pleased with this little wall hanging quilt.

And now that it is in my daughter's hands, I can share it on here with you. I have a couple of other projects using the pieces of this panel that I will share with you when I am finished with them. The panel also includes pigs and cows so I am making something up with them as well.
