Friday Finish!

So thankful that I have been getting so much sewing time lately. It really makes me feel more like myself. And I have been cranking it out! What I am showing you today was actually finished Wednesday and I finished another Gemma Blouse late yesterday so I will show you that very soon. For today:
This is a sweet little wall hanging quilt I made for my middle daughter. I had two mini charm packs of this and without looking back through a bunch of blogs, I can't remember what it is. I think it's Sweetwater, though. I pieced it forever ago, without any idea of its intended use. Just because.
A quick and easy criss cross quilting pattern.
And some lovely Henna Garden for the back of the quilt.
I found a perfect red in my stash for the binding. I love when that happens and I don't have to buy anything new.

And now, another little quilt for my daughter and another item off my WIP list. Yay me!!
Then, this happened. My sister was in England and I asked her to go to Liberty and get me some lawn fabric and she did!! I asked for 4 meters of 4 prints. I told her to just pick something lovely and she did!

The total cost for 4 meters was 90 pounds which is $117.90 in American dollars. That works out to 29.475 per meter, which is 1.094 yards. A great price I think! Now to find a project for these. Have a great Friday. Linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts.

I'm Not Bored Yet

So much is going on here each and every day. My sister is traveling in Ireland right now, there is construction happening in the back yard, and I am painting parts of the inside of the house. The painting is winding down, which makes me happy. On days that I paint, I don't always get to sew.

When it comes to sewing, the list is endless and seems to grow more quickly than I can finish things and cross them off. Part of that is due to the fact that I am now sewing clothing, as well as quilts. That was my first sewing love, really. I hate shopping for clothes. If I sew some, I don't have to shop!

Last week I made a few things for the kiddos. Sewing in a smaller scale is fun and much faster. Now I am sewing for me. I will show that off in my next post. But for now, some quilty goodness.

This is the top of a pillow for Miss N. I need to quilt it up and attach a back to it. It matches the baby quilt I made for her when she was born. I really love that raindrop fabric!
This little wall hanging is one I started back in NC. This is for my middle daughter. She requested some small quilts she could hang as art in her house. This is in some fabrics that she chose from my stash. I have a whole box of her choices to work with. This is the first.
Straight line quilting in the background behind the leaves, curlicues in the borders and hand quilting with pearl cotton on the leaves themselves. A bit of everything.
And for the back, this print that has sat in my stash since it was released. I would have to look at the date, but I am guessing 2012. It is the bottlecap print from Going Coastal by Emily Harrik. I never could figure out how to use it. So that is what I have been doing this week. Have a great weekend.

How I Write a Blog Post

I don't know how you do it, but when I write a post, especially if I have  nothing specific that I want/need to share, I flip through my photos and see what I can cobble together to make up a blog post. This most often happens when I am in between projects or just noodling around with small projects. Like now.

So here is what I have to share with you today:
This was just some noodling around with shapes and applique and color. I like it and am going to quilt it as soon as I figure out how I want to do that.
These leaf shapes are still floating around in my collection of WIPs. I left them with my daughter to see if she could find a cool way to arrange them. I am stumped right now.
This chunk of extra wide backing fabric is on the back of a secret sewing project. Once it is gifted I will post about the front.
Wanted to make a strawberry. Just one. I have been doing lots of straight line quilting lately.
Small feather wall hanging for daughter number 2. She requested a few small wall hanging size quilts for her home. Fall colors are her favorites and she picked these out.
One more small wall hanging for the same daughter. Just finished, not quilted yet. I have to look at it for awhile before I know how it needs to be quilted. Any suggestions?

So, that's what I am working on here, along with a bunch of other things. Talk to you soon.
