I loved the way they went together when I was chain piecing them. So cool...
More fun...
Then I started playing with arrangements...
This is the one I finally went with. It seemed to me to be the best for this application.
And before I even finished the project I had in mind for these, inspiration struck again, so I quickly jumped on it before the idea could be lost. I still had a bit over a quarter yard of my Ombre Dots!
Sew I fussy cut them to come up with this arrangement. I used almost every scrap in this, but I love it.
I put a dark green Kona circle in the middle, and then I stitched in the ditch up and down the fan blades with my machine.
And I did accent stitching with Perle Cotton. I was thinking maybe pillow, but once I did the accent stitching, I wanted more.
So I think I am going to make more of these and make them into a quilt, because I just can't stop at one. Now about that first Dresden...this is what happened to it:
I wanted to make a pouch, but I sort of forgot that it would have a flat bottom. I forgot to compensate for that...
So a lot of it ended up on the bottom. At first I was bummed, because it didn't turn out like I had pictured it, but it is sort of cute after all...
I used Anna at Noodlehead's wide mouthed pouch tutorial. I love the way those turn out every time!
Could I stop now? NO! I had to make more...
I wanted to see how small I could go...these fan blades are 2 1/2 inches, but the circle in the center is still too big. They are Sunkissed by Sweetwater and the center is the new Noteworthy line by Sweetwater. I realized I needed to make the narrow end even narrower to get a smaller center.
This one became my new mug rug for my desk and I love it. More stitching around the outside with Perle Cotton. But I still wanted a smaller one...
This is more Sunkissed, I am almost out of it now.
I adjusted the size once again to make it smaller still. The small Ackfeld hanger is 5 inches wide. Want a little perspective? Here you go...
That's what I wanted to achieve! I love this little cutie! And now, my tale of Dresdens is done. Thanks to Madame Samm and Christine at Quilt monster in my closet. Another fabulous hop and I learned so much and I thought I didn't really like making Dresdens. Who knew? Here is the rest of the schedule for today. Enjoy the hop.

Your dresdens are sew pretty. I love the way they kept getting smaller and smaller. Sew cute. The pouch is really very nice. I love the way you used the perle cotton to accent the blades. Sunkissed was one of my favorite lines, too. Thanks sew much for sharing ... :) Pat
How cute is that last little Dresden!!! I love the accent stitching around the blades... very effective.
Love them all yes I do!
Love all your Dresdens! Your mini and the pouch are adorable. Thank you for sharing.
Gorgeous Dresdens, especially your pouch that is very pretty.
Love your mug rug, but the pouch is my favorite! All beautiful!
Oooh they are all so lovely and yes they are very addictive arent they! I love the way the pouch turned out - the side looks great by itself but then you have the added joy when you look at the bottom too. Thanks for sharing.
Your pouch is incredible but that itty bitty mini at the end is PERFECTION!!!! Especially on that little hanger with closepins!! Awesome!
Clothespins even!!
Ooh there is so much loveliness here that I don't know where to start. Love your pouch with it's very posh bottom - actually, I like how the blades just peek out up the sides of the pouch. The Ombre dots look marvellous - that's going to make a wonderful rainbow quilt and I love the teeny, tiny Sunkissed - wish that fabric was still available.
Your works with the Dresden Plate are beautiful.
Thanks sew much for sharing
I love all your pictures showing your playing with the Dresdens. And best of all they are so cute and beautiful. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
Great blocks. Even though you didn't plan it that way, the tiny blades peeking out on the pouch are utterly charming. Still, I loved them all!
Wow you have been busy!
I love your dresdens - the third spotty version looks like a circle of hearts don't you think??
Thanks for sharing!
Your Dresdens are magnificent. I love the dots. Well, actually I love all of them. Thanks for the hint on the small Dresdens. I love the pouch. It is adorable. Thank you for taking time in this hectic, busy world to participate and inspire us.
They're all great, but I love you pouch!
You certainly went the extra mile didn't you !!! Great work ;)
I love them ALL! I especially liked seeing you group the blades in colors: twosies, foursies. Gives me ideas. Your work is beautiful and I really enjoyed stopping by today.
Gorgeous work. Thank you for sharing such wonderful eye candy today.
Dresdens certainly have a way of multiplying don't they? Such a fun pattern to manipulate and so easy to create many indiviual creations! Love your dots!!!
You sure were a busy Grammie! Your contribution to the hope is Bravo!!! Love those mini's!!
Betcha can't make just one! Nice line up of dresdens. Your little bag is very cute, even if it's different than you thought. I love making things that kind of evolve from one state to another. Very creative!
Patty, I just couldn't stop!
Thanks, Thearica.
They are rather like potato chips in that you can't stop at one.
Thank you sew much!
I loved making all of them.
Me too, Theresa. Hands down my favorite fabric line ever!
You made me laugh Amy. I love anything tiny.
Yes, Pam, I think that is one of my favorite parts.
Thank you Pat. I am going to miss my Sunkissed when it is all gone.
I'm not surprised you couldn't top, they're all gorgeous! I love the first one even if it did end up on the bottom :) the ombré dots are a great idea too!
I had no idea you could start with jelly rolls! I'm not quite certain HOW you did this.. but it is a very exciting prospect.. and I really want to try this!!

I love the gradation of the green dots--what a great idea! Even though the majority of the Dresden is on the bottom, I think your pouch turned out great. The petals sticking up the side are fun!

Such fresh Dresdens!!! I really like your dresdens blocks...great fabrics
Hi!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Love them all!!! The smallest one is amazing!!! So pretty!!! Thank You
how lovely sooo darn perfect all of them..but your mini stole my heart
I used the Easy Dresden ruler and could only make them so big as the larger size blades went off the side of the jelly roll strips. I think they were either 5 or 5 1/2 inches long before sewing.
Thanks Christine. I did love it!
I just had to keep trying until I got as small as I could. My fingers probably couldn't handle anything smaller. Thanks!
I just "pinned" your block showing the big stitching to my Pinterest board. Very nice! Thanks for participating.
